A Canvas of Episodes Port of Seattle, Seattle, Wa
Site
specific project commissioned by the Port of Seattle for its
headquarters. The piece is integrated directly
into
the architecture on two levels of the atrium at the west
end
of the building. Paintings, text, steel and photo-etched
tiles are placed at intervals throughout the space, using
pillars, stairs, and main wall (front and back).
The imagery refers to three themes: old to new, (the site
was a ruin on the waterfront capped with a new
structure); sea to sky, (the principal transportation venues
of the Port); and culture to culture, (the Port is a
global business).
